Carla Bosch

Carla’s life of colour started January 14, 1976 in Pretoria, South Africa. Spring’s flood of purple jacaranda tree blossoms in the city exposed Carla to colour from a young age. The warmth and cheerfulness of her landscapes, coastal and street scenes are true to Carla’s vibrant personality, and her giving nature is evident in her liberal use of bright colors. She loves painting plein air but is equally at home in her studio, where Carla prefers to use images merely as reference points, rather than to paint exact replicas. She enjoys applying her own impression of the subject.

Carla and her family moved to the USA in 2012. They currently reside in the state of Texas after a few years in California. Carla is a Laguna Plein Air Painters Association (LPAPA) member and won the Randy Higbee Award at the LPAPA Showcase in 2014. She is also a Best of Acrylics 2014 international competition winner.

Her more recent accomplishments include being juried into the 2015 LPAPA Best of Plein Air Show, a first place award in the 2015 Paint San Clemente quick draw competition and two honorable mentions in the 2015 Paint San Clemente main event. In 2016, Carla received three honorable mentions from Paint San Clemente. She was also invited to the acclaimed 2017 La Quinta Arts Festival, which is rated the best fine art festival in the USA. In 2018 she was again juried into the Festival of Arts/Pageant of the Masters art spectacular in Laguna Beach, California.
